I won’t go into them because if you read this novel you will understand immediately what I am referring to. I have given this book three stars purely because there were some really contrived aspects dotted throughout the story that I had to work so hard to ignore. As a reader you do find yourself wondering how you would cope in a similar situation and can sense some of the panic and desperation that is conveyed. I liked the ever-growing closeness between them and the strong sense of mutual dependency that evolved over time. Given what happens later in the book, TJ is characterised as quite mature for his age, presumably given his earlier health problems, so what happens later on (quite a lot later on) isn’t tacky or that much of a surprise. The characters of Anna and TJ are well depicted and you instantly get a feel for them as people. The writing flows well and you are pulled straight into the action, so I enjoyed this book in that respect.
